Awareness Video for Citizens Advice
We were pleased to be contacted by Citizens Advice to create an awareness video for the Central & South Sussex branches, that showcased the difference they make to people’s lives, and to inspire others to get involved and volunteer with Citizens Advice.
The brief for this awareness video required us to show the difference the volunteers make to not only the lives of the clients, but to their own lives too. We did this from several different viewpoints, including the first point of contact for the public, the advisors, and some clients themselves. Over the course of the video we meet several individuals who have involvement with the Central & South Sussex branches of Citizens Advice, with a lot of the filming taking place at the Worthing branch.
The one of the individuals we meet is a gentleman from Lindfield, who explains how the volunteers at Citizens Advice put him at ease when an injury meant he had to fill out a lot of paperwork. We also meet a young woman, who was faced with budgeting for a whole house after separating from her husband. Both described their initial anxiety about their situation and visiting Citizens Advice, but how they were both calmed by their experience, and the help that the volunteers offered them.
We also hear from three volunteers, two that have become advisors, and another who works as a point of contact for clients. Each describe how they help people, and how they feel rewarded by their work. One of the individuals tells us that she was once a client at Citizens Advice, and her positive experience inspired her to become a volunteer too.
In terms of the video itself, we took footage from all of the people we spoke to, and interchanged them, meaning we get to hear from everyone throughout the duration of the video. In between some of these clips, we included statistics, to give the viewer an idea of the number of volunteers currently involved with Central & South Sussex Citizens Advice, and how many different issues they’re able to deal with. We also included shots of the interior and exterior of the Worthing branch, which showed the help leaflets on offer, the reception area, the advisors meeting with clients, and the research that happens behind the scenes.
The video showcases the difference Citizens Advice volunteers can make to the lives of others, and the fulfilment they feel within themselves. Using tasteful shots, sensitive interviews and eye opening statistics, we were able to create an awareness video that encourages members of the public to get involved with a charity that does fantastic work for so many people.
